Blackboard Incompatible with IE 11
(Wednesday, January 22, 2014)
Many students and faculty are experiencing difficulties with Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.
It is possible that students will get “kicked out” while taking Blackboard quizzes because IE stops responding and needs to be closed which loses their session. These issues are not just for the Blackboard Learning System, but for many older websites in general. With this in mind, please know that, at the current time, our version of Blackboard is NOT compatible with the IE 11 browser.
Among other issues, when you access portions of your course you may receive a message from your browser telling you that “Internet Explorer has stopped working” and the browser will simply reload the Announcement page for your course.
At this time, the only workaround is to use Blackboard in an alternate browser such as Firefox, Chrome, or Safari, or to downgrade to an earlier version of Internet Explorer (ver. 9 or 10). If you are on a school-owned computer and need assistance with this, you can contact our service desk and they will be able to assist you.
The above information will be posted on the Blackboard landing page, the Technology Services area on the campus portal, as a temporary announcement within the Blackboard Learning System and at the Service Desk.
